The earthquake and tsunami in Japan has really hit home to me.  Being an ESL instructor I have several current and former students who are either in Japan right now or have family and friends there who are affected by the aftermath of everything that has happened. I’ve heard back from so many of my students who are thankfully safe, but there are still so many more who are struggling to even get the basic necessities of food and clean water.

I’ve decided that I wanted to do something to help out in anyway that I can.

Bloomology has decided to donate a percentage of the profits from classes and arrangements to go towards in helping the relief efforts in Japan.

I recently had a class held at my studio for a client who I met through Yelp! Irene was such a sweetheart and she wanted to have a bridal shower for her twin sister Ilene that would be something that she would always remember. Instead of going the traditional route of having a simple bridal shower with food and games, she decided to have a flower making party.

She did such an amazing job designing and making all the decorations even down to the little lunch baskets with In-N-Out for their meal.  She even prepared a little lunch basket for me even though she really didn’t have to.

When it was time for learning to make the flowers, all of the ladies were so great and tried their best to pay attention to the instructions. You can see the intense concentration on their faces!

Here’s the lovely bride hard at work!

And her amazing sister who made this all happen!

I had such a blast with this wonderful group of ladies.  They were so fun and I could tell how much they cared about the bride to be.  It was such a privilege to be able to play a part in making their wedding day special.

Congratulations Ilene.  I know you’ll be an absolutely beautiful bride!

I’ve had so much fun teaching classes these past couple of weeks and I couldn’t help but write a post about the amazing work that my students have done.  Here’s just a snapshot of some of their beautiful work.

Just to preface the pictures, this was the first time that any of them had experience making flowers out of deco clay.

The gardenia arrangement on the top is one that I did as a sample, but the bottom 2 were done completely by my good friends Jeongme and Juna.  Jeongme actually decided to take on the task of making her own flowers for her cute daughter’s first birthday party!

Leslie decided that she wanted to take a class with her mom who absolutely loves everything that has to do with flowers and Janice, the blogger extraordinaire decided to join in on the fun. This was a bold and bright group and you can absolutely tell by the beautiful colors of their arrangements. I wish the group photo wasn’t so blurry, but at least you’re still able to see their gorgeous faces!

The last class was a fun group of ladies. Jee-Eun and Christina were so sweet for agreeing to pose for the camera with their newly created arrangements.

I love how at the end of class, everyone is oohing and ahhing over their masterpieces =)

Right now, I’m working on new class projects so hopefully I’ll have new schedules out soon!
